Seal Oil LampThis oil lamp is a traditional light source used by the indigenous people of the Northern region.

The soft light of this lamp was the focal point of the Eskimo's domestic life. Seal blubber and moss wicking are replaced by olive oil and cotton wicking.

Dimensions - 6 1/2" x 3 3/4"

Instructions for Use:
  1. Place folded wick upright in notches, fold downward
  2. Place 1 tablespoon of cooking oil in the deep trough
  3. Allow the wick to absorb the oil. Replenish as needed
  4. Light and enjoy the renewed light of centuries

Muskox TrayThis is a handcrafted stoneware tray with animal description and a qiviut sample.

The Muskox, a relative to sheep and goats, is a northern climatic animal. Indigenous people call him "oomingmak" meaning "bearded one."

In the winter months, a soft wool undercoat called "qiviut" provides a thermal blanket of protection against the harsh Arctic cold.
